Todays' Topic:
Procrastination
Now, I'm writing this at
8:11 am when this is due in less then an hour so I figure it's a
pretty good topic. Now most people that don't procrastinate look at
those of us that do and think (I've actually been asked this) why the
hell do you do that? It makes things so much more difficult and
sometimes you don't finish. Let me explain once and for all as to why
I do this. Procrastination is just a symptom of what I like to call
time management skills. You see, you have to know exactly how much
time you have left and how much time the project/assignment/what have
you is going to take. You also have to be in control of your time
management skills enough to the point to give you the confidence that
you can do it in the time you have left. That confidence leads to the
decision that, because you can do it later, and you don't want to do
it now, do it later. And why not? It's worked so many times before.
You think you once heard a wise man say “Why do today what you can
put off until tomorrow?” For a while it's going to work to. That
last minute cram session to get everything done can work out, and
often does many times before you fail. Then it does fail and you look
back at all the other times that it worked and you rationalize it
away with that one time was a fluke. Then it starts failing more and
more then you're looking at the As and Bs at the end of the years and
they're Cs and Ds if your lucky. They're Fs if your not. At that
point you just find yourself thinking where did it all go? I was
doing so well. Well, welcome to college. Now the question should
arise “If Anthony is going to preach about how it's bad, why is
Anthony doing it at what is now 8:24 a.m.” The answer is simple. I
haven't hit that fail point yet. But I know it's coming, and I know
it's going to suck when it get's here but for now, I'm just gonna
Thank you for reading and
have a good weekend.
